- 2 large apples I used honeycrisp
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
- ¾ teaspoon cinnamon ground
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup plus more for drizzling
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- vanilla ice cream or vanilla Greek yogurt, for serving
Peel and core the apples, then cut in halves. Cut into ½” thick slices.
Place apple slices in a mixing bowl, add melted butter, cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup. Stir with a spatula to coat.
Preheat basket style air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place apples in the basket in a single layer and air fry for 16-18 minutes, shakingthe air fryer once, after 9 minutes.
Serve hot or at room temperature with a side of vanilla ice-cream, vanilla Greekyogurt or on top of oatmeal.
The best apples to use are crisp, tart and not mushy. I like to use Honecrisp, Granny Smith, Pink Lady or Gala.
To make this recipe vegan, swap butter for refined coconut oil.
Cook time will vary by the size of your apple slices and make of your air fryer model. Check for doneness after 12-13 minutes. They should be soft and carmelized on the outside but be careful not to burn them.
If your air fryer is small, cook the apples in batches.
