Air Fryer Sliced Potatoes

Air Fryer Potato Slices are a great appetizer, side dish or snack made in under 30 minutes. They are wonderfully crisp on the outside, soft and creamy inside and much healthier than traditional fries.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and slice them using a mandolin or a sharp knife. The slices should be ¼ inch thick.
  • Place potato slices in a medium bowl and cover with cold water. Soak for 15-30 minutes, then drain and dry the potato slices with paper towels. This step will help the potatoes crisp up.
  • Place dried potato slices back in the bowl, add olive oil, salt, garlic and onion powder and paprika. Mix to coat.
  • Place half of the potato slices in the bottom of an 7-qt (or larger) basket style air fryer.
  • Air fry for 12-15 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit, shaking the basket every 5 minutes. Check for doneness after 12 minutes. Potato slices should be golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft inside.
  • Remove cooked potato slices and transfer to a platter or baking sheet. Serve right away or keep warm. Repeat with the remaining half of potato slices.
  • Serve immediately with dill aioli or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

¼-inch thick potato slices take about 12-15 minutes to air fry the slices. If your slices are thicker, go with 15-18 minutes. Anything thinner than ¼ inch thick will take 10-12 minutes or less.
A large basket style air fryer (7-quart or larger) will work best.
Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes are the best potato type for this recipe.
Don't skip soaking the potatoes in water before air frying if you want crispy slices.
Whip up a batch of my Dill Aioli to dip the potato slices in.
